5 Foods Harmful For Your Dogs

Can a little sweet or other food items from the table hurt your dog? Well, that depends on what you are giving them. If it’s sweet, it can cause your dog some real problems. There are lots of foods that you should never give to your pets. And, it’s not just because of weight. Some foods are extremely dangerous for dogs and the list is below: 

1. Chocolate – It’s the most toxic food for your furry friends. Chocolate contains theobromine that’s really harmful to dogs. Your dog may have diarrhea, vomit, or become overly thirsty. In the severe case, it can cause abnormal heart rhythms, seizures, tremors, or death.



2. Garlic – Garlic can damage red blood cells of your dog, resulting in anemia. Your dog may feel tired, unwilling to do any activity, experience shortness of breathing, and urine color may change from orange to dark red. In severe case, your dog may require a blood transfusion. 

3. Grapes and raisins – These foods can cause renal failure in dogs. It can affect your dog’s kidneys, causing vomiting and lethargy and eventually leading to death. It’s best to avoid feeding your dog with grapes and raisins. 

4. Candies, gums, and toothpaste, etc. – These items contain xylitol. Xylitol can drop your dog’s blood sugar levels and can result in liver failure. Your dog may show some symptoms including vomiting, coordination issues, lethargy, and seizures, resulting in liver failure within just a few days.

5. Caffeine – Caffeine is fatal for your dogs. Keep your dog away from colas, chocolates, cocoa, and energy drinks. Watch out for coffee and tea, even the beans and the grounds. Get your dog to the vet as soon as possible, if you think your dog had caffeine.
